The Inaugural Burn

A few months ago, Wes, Kyle and Matt had a conversation about brewing beer. I have to say- I am probably the reason they went through with it, because as soon as i over heard them saying this, i immediateley said " I'll believe it when i see it!"

I am beyond impressed they did it, and I am so proud of them for making such a tasty batch!
Syphening the yeasty beer into another bottle containing the carbonationing sugar ( i don't know if that was correct beer brewing term)

Time to Bottle!

Capping the bottles

right before this picture was taken, Kyle said to me " we did it you bitch!" haha

Happy New Year (part deux)

When we were young...

A few weekends ago, i had to clean out my old room at my Mom's to make room for my brother and his family ( so excited by the way!!) and ran into some old pictures, brought back old memories- i love those trips! had to post a few of me when i was at my cutest, this also prompted me to post some cute toddler pictures of Wes that i've been holding on to.

SERIOUSLY!!! jaw dropping adorable!

JAZZ TIME

i was so excited to get this picture taken with Matt Harpring..such a nice person! i bought these tickets last minute and turned this into an impromtu midweek date night with Wes. It was so much fun, and being able to spend time with my husband is always the best...Wes only cares when it involves sports ..haha.

HOW I SPEND MY SUNDAY MORNINGS...

I wake up at 8:30  every sunday...for 3 hours i have the TV to myself and i just have my 'me' time in front of Foodnetwork and pinterest before Wes wakes up and annihilates me with sports on the tube.  Also we have been making pancakes or waffles every Sunday- and the house just smells like it for the rest of the day...its what good Sundays are made of right?

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

First off, 2012 has come with such great things: my brother moved back to SLC, our little family is once again all together in the same state, not to mention my cute niece and nephew just make my day every time i see them. Wes got a mini promotion at work and we mutually agreed to try to make a baby this year!

We also celebrated Chinese New Year, made a wish, and payed respect to my father. of course, we had some great food to ring in the new year. My mom sent us home with some leftovers. all i have to say is my mom makes the best curry...and she also makes these yummy - what i call "cambodian tamales"..its meat and beans wrapped in sticky rice and steamed in plantain leaves...i could eat it all the time.

A Look Back @ 2011

I have been pondering on how to make my blog for my “look back on 2011” thoughtful and tactful. Nothing is coming to me to make it this way. So here I go, as this may either sound like a rant or just a girl bored at work..hehe.

A Look Back @ 2011

New Years Eve 2010- A quiet night in with my boyfriend. I remember it being 14 degrees that night. Glad we didn’t go out. I don’t think I even stayed up til midnight haha.

February 14th- Wes’ first time to Flemings for Valentines Day!

March 3rd - start new job at Utah Business Magazine. First week was Horrific. Now im happy and grateful of this opportunity- I have a great boss, great co workers, and a stressful, but the good kind of stressful, role as the Administrator.

May 17th- We’re engaged! It was not the most glamorous proposal, and I was on the “shit or get off the pot” phase in the relationship. Not to say that Wes wasn’t wanting to get married, but lets say he was ‘comfortable”, and I, like most girls, don’t tolerate “comfortable” well. However- the engagement was memorable- we almost considered eloping in our upcoming Mesquite/Vegas trip! We wanted to be married fast haha. We inform the fam of the engagement, for my brother in New York, it seemed the best time to have the wedding so they could all be there was the weekend of the 4th of July.- So it is—July 2nd!

May 27th- On our way to Vegas! Wooot!

May 27th- Received the phone call that my dad has passed away in Cambodia.  The worst call I made after the news was to my brother in NY, he had hoped to see Dad at the wedding “ just one more time” he said.

June 1st- June 7th- Bereavement, Dad’s 7 day Memorial, and planning the big wedding for July 2nd 2011.

July 1st- Landlord sends an EMAIL- raising rent $200! ( serious DoucheBags!) We decide to move out.

July 2nd- the big day! Pulled off  a wedding in 45 days! It was hot! I was 30 minutes late- but the cake was amazing and the toasts were sweet. there was a moment where my Dad was missed by everyone.

July 31st- Move into Moms

August- Wes’ Bowling League ( Team Bump'r Then Split) season begins- Hello lonely Thursday Nights..actually- its been great, much needed girl time is always appreciated and taken on Thursdays.

August 24th- Wes turns the big 3-0!! We went to fiddlers elbow and had people bring 30 of something to poke fun- the funniest was 30 depend diapers.

Sept 18th- Move out of moms and into a new condo to start our fun newly wed life.
We owe big thanks to our friends that helped us move so many times. We truly have the greatest circle of people.

Thanksgiving- one of the best ever! Spent the night before at some friends and played games, spent actual thanksgiving at home watching the tube, and did thanksgiving dinner on Saturday with his family. I keep telling Wes we need to make this happen every year!

December- Joined the Junior League of Salt Lake City, officially down 20 lbs since September, (just to gain back 5 from all the goodies of the holidays)

Christmas- I don’t know about you. but I tend to give presents early to the people I love, and then the big bang fizzles at Christmas time haha. So my actual Christmas day was all about receiving! It was phenomenal!  And we finished our Christmas festivities by 1 pm and had the rest of the day to be home and relax :)

My Birthday- im 31! I was really excited this year for my birthday, I was completely spoiled by Wes too. I am embracing this era of my 30’s now with open arms..

New Years Eve 2011- a small gathering at our place. Tons of fun! Not planned very well and pretty sure pissed off a bunch of people for not inviting them. I didn’t do it on purpose, just had a set amount of people in mind and got caught up in the hosting demands. At some point during the night though, I had a revelation- it could also have been the effects of a mojito and wine combination- that I’ve seen friends come and go the past few years, for reasons I don’t know why, or maybe I do know, but im not aware that I know, or petty reasons that I won’t be able to apologize for.

This year has been the funnest year with the friends though. I have had so much fun with my extended family and have become closer than ever with my siblings. I have married a great man, and we constantly remember to say “I Love You” and remind each other how much we appreciate one another.

It was also a year packed with the 4 of the 7 categorized events that are the most stressful to any one person.-moving, job, death, and wedding.

2012

Now that we are in our 30’s- I think we have followed the saying “ the older I get, the less I care”   about what people think, about how we look in public ( think sweat pants at walmart), and even to the extent of how clean my house is ( uhmmm….we will see about that).  I want 2012 to be like the fun lazy days I have with my husband - where we can talk without having to brush our teeth first in the morning, making waffles from scratch , just to order pizza for lunch right after. Having more quality time with friends and family. Keeping our close friends close , and our families even closer..(there are no enemies).
Bring in more positivity, enjoy the small things, surround ourselves with good people….AND hopefully get pregnant!
